Meet The Pharmacist
Meet The Pharmacist
Have you ever had one of those meetings with your friends where they ask you what you are studying? Wonder what pharmacy is? What do pharmacists actually do? Or do they assume that all you do is count pills?
This lack of awareness of the pharmacy profession is prevalent throughout society. Although important to patient healthcare, the pharmacy profession has not been able to communicate effectively to the public about the role, scope, and importance of the profession.
Pharmacy students are the pharmacists of tomorrow and key players within the healthcare system. They will be among leading the profession in the near future and can play a major role in not only increasing awareness but also changing attitudes towards the pharmacy profession.
Through the Pharmacy Profession Awareness Campaign (PPAC), we aim to make pharmacy a recognizable profession by organizing monthly Meet-The-Pharmacist. We invite successful and leading pharmacists in different organizations where they meet with the university pharmacy students for the purpose of delivering accurate and real information regarding the pharmacy profession outside the university life of the students.
This is also organized to empower pharmacy students in their studies aiming in identifying gaps in the profession but also growing the pharmacy profession with the purpose to find all the ways of developing the profession. Through this program, pharmacy students become aware of the profession as well as got all the information regarding it so that they can encourage others to join and grow the profession to borderless.
There is an initiative to start Meet-The-Pharmacy University Students. After university pharmacy students have gained important information regarding the pharmacy profession from the Meet-The-Pharmacists, students use the acquired/gained knowledge and experience to make awareness in the science-secondary schools about the pharmacy profession. The science students in secondary schools are explained all about the pharmacy profession and get answered to the curious questions they might be having about the pharmacy profession. This enables them to make the right choice while selecting the program for their university studies because they are having enough information about the pharmacy profession.
Pharmacy students in the November Meet-The-Pharmacist on 09th November 2023, under the theme “The role of pharmacists in clinical and public health settings,” with Boonie Greenwood, PharmD, BCPS, Pharmacist from USA, and George SHORTIS, Australian Pharmacist.
